Christmas on Peachtree — Main Description:
Christmas on Peachtree provides a place for kids and their families to share in the wonder of the holiday season and the magic of Santa Claus. Christmas on Peachtree's attractions and activities provide plenty for kids to do and see, while providing parents and grandparents with a nostalgic reminder of the holidays of their own youth — with a few modern twists!
Christmas on Peachtree — What to see on Peachtree Street
Giant Snow Globe: Perhaps the most distinct attraction at Christmas on Peachtree is the giant, 8-foot snow globe positioned right out front! This working snow globe features the Christmas on Peachtree logo and serves as an attention-grabber among passers-by, as well as an example of what can be found inside.
Holiday Windows: Reminiscent of the days when Department Store Holiday Windows graced Peachtree Street Downtown, Christmas on Peachtree's Holiday Windows feature nostalgic themes and settings, as well as some new holiday traditions. Local designers and volunteers have transformed these windows into magical settings from movies such as "It's a Wonderful Life," "Auntie Mame," and the upcoming holiday release, "We Bought a Zoo."
Christmas on Peachtree — The Grand Atrium
Giant Christmas Trees: Perhaps the first thing guests will notice when entering the Grand Atrium are the two, 24-foot Christmas trees. The "Marilyn Tree" was inspired by the High Museum's "Picasso to Warhol" exhibit and features Warhol's famous image of Marilyn Monroe, as well as a garland of pink feather boas. The "Polar Bear" tree features more than 100 Coca-Cola Polar Bears, including two giant stuffed Coca-Cola Polar Bears, as ornaments.
Christmas on Peachtree Main Stage: The Main Stage serves as home base for Christmas on Peachtree's family-friendly DJ and master of ceremonies. Our DJ will engage the crowd in a variety of interactive games, activities and contests. Contest winners will have a chance to pull the switch to make it "snow" in the grand atrium! The main stage also will feature performances throughout the month from area schools, clubs, singing groups and charitable organizations. For a schedule of performances, click here.
Letters to Santa: Between the giant Christmas Trees, kids will find materials — including paper, crayons, markers, pencils, etc. — to craft their very own letters to Santa. Kids can then put their letter in the "Letters to Santa" mailbox located in this area, or they can take their creations home with them.
Cartoon Network Character Visits: Kids will have an opportunity to visit and pose for picture with a variety of Cartoon Network characters, including Ben 10, Scooby Doo, Jake and Finn (from Adventure Time!) and others. These characters will make regular rounds throughout the Grand Atrium area each day.
Coca-Cola Presents Discover Santa All Over Again: This exhibit, presented by The Coca Cola Company, features famous images of Santa Claus by renowned artist Haddon Sundblom, whose illustrations created between 1931-1964 have shaped our modern view of Santa. Framed images from actual advertisements from this period are featured in the breezeway between the Grand Atrium and the Family Adventure Area.
Symphony of Lights: At regular intervals each hour, the Grand Atrium transforms into a three-dimensional backdrop for the Symphony of Lights, a feast for the senses that includes a laser light show synchronized to inspiring holiday-themed music, as well as some holiday "snow" to conclude each show.
Christmas on Peachtree — Children's Adventure Area
After passing through the "Polar Mist" (holiday images projected onto a "screen" of water vapor), guests will make their way to the Children's Adventure Area, which features the following attractions and activities:
A Visit with Santa: Of course, Santa will be on hand each day to pose for photos with kids and to ask them what they want Santa to bring them for Christmas.
Kid-Friendly Activities: Throughout the Children's Adventure Area, kids will find fun and engaging activities, including:
- The Peach — Take your photo next to the official Peach from Underground Atlanta's New Year's Eve Peach Drop (on loan from Underground Atlanta until New Year's Eve!)
- Santa's Snowbound Express — take a ride on a holiday-themed train.
- Interactive Train Table — press the buttons along this O-scale train table to control the action.
- Snow Plows — go for a ride on a "kid powered" Flying Turtle® seated scooter.
- Arctic Ice Wall — test your climbing skills on this kid-safe climbing wall
- Snowball Shootout — test your aim by shooting foam balls at a rotating target to earn points
- Santa's Snowtime Theatre — enjoy holiday classics, including Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph and A Charlie Brown Christmas. The area also will serve as the site for Wii interactive games.
- Face Painters — decorate your cheek with a holiday design, or transform your entire face into a lion, cat or another animal of your choice.
Vendor Village: The Family Adventure Area also contains the vendor village, where vendors offer everything from T-Shirts to toffee, Calendars to Key Lime Pie.
Cartoon Network/CNN: Gifts galore, perfect for stocking stuffers! Can't get enough of Scooby Doo or Daffy Duck, then pick up one of the adorable plush toys, as a memento. Fun stocking hats reminiscent of A Christmas Story are sure to please, as are the great big coffee mugs – ideal for hot chocolate, soup, or that morning java!
Chalkboard Tees: 100% cotton and made in the U.S.A., these fun shirts come equipped with a chalkboard surface right on the front, so you can draw whatever you want. There's even a pocket to hold your chalk when you're done creating your masterpiece!
Graffiti Zoo: A local company, which specializes in handmade chocolate bark using wonderful flavor combinations, unique ingredients, and premium chocolate. With whimsical and colorful packaging, their delectable chocolate treats are perfect for holiday giving. Stop by for some Santa's Fireflies, Polar Peppermint Penguins, and other wonderful Graffiti Zoo creations. (*A portion of profits benefit the Conservation Endowment Fund of the American Zoo & Aquarium Association).
Heavenly Gourmet Popcorn: From White Cheddar to White Chocolate Peppermint, you will love Heavenly Gourmet Popcorn with snack and small size bags to enjoy at the event and share the love by purchasing gift tins or gift boxes to give as Christmas gifts. You'll find Egg Nog, Gingerbread, and Pumpkin Pie in these great gifts.
Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta: Offers fun, educational, and award winning toys that reflect the museum's learning zones and allow children to take the museum experience home.
Kenny's Great Pies: These all-natural pies offer a twist on a traditional pecan pie with a hint of whiskey; Kenny's PECAN PIE combines Maker's Mark® with pecans on top of an authentic pastry shell. Sure to please!
Lauri Jo's Southern Style Canning: All-natural, gourmet food products that are unique to the South. Having just won Best Jelly in the National Gourmet Food Show 2011, the Blueberry Pepper Jelly is bursting with flavor. The fresh blueberries are hand-picked from Chick-Fil-A founder Truett Cathy's Rock Ranch, just outside of Barnesville, GA. Add her great-grandmother's hand-sliced green tomato pickles to your deviled eggs or potato salad, and we promise that you will never use regular relish again! Her candied jalapenos are simultaneously sweet and hot, and make wonderful toppers for burgers, cream cheese, sausage dogs, or pretty much anything. Use her pickled asparagus as a stirrer for your favorite bloody Mary or cocktail, or just chop them up and add them to a salad for lots of crisp crunch.
Legacy Station Trainworks: Nothing says Christmas more than a Lionel train under the tree. Model Railroading has been a family tradition for many generations. Ready to run sets are a great way to get started, such as the Polar Express train set. All the starter sets come with everything you need to get started including transformer and track (Fastrack- easy to snap together and will work on carpet, hardwood floors or any table surface).
Lexington Chocolates: This is not the fudge you grew up with or your typical fudge experience! Their hand packaged fudge includes flavors based in semi-sweet and white chocolate enhanced with premium ingredients including Limoncello liqueur, premium Kentucky bourbon, Caribbean rum, hand grated cinnamon, and walnuts just to name a few! Whether you are a Bourbon connoisseur, coffee addict, or enjoy the simple pleasures from childhood, such as Cookies N' Cream - there is sure to be a flavor you find irresistible!
The Magnolia Company: Fresh from the farm, their unique, specimen Magnolia trees are grown and meticulously pruned to perfect the shape and structure. Each stem is looked at for optimum color and texture and then hand cut. Each stem is graded and assembled into a beautiful wreath. A magnolia wreath will last for a minimum of 4 years, if cared for appropriately.
Pearson Farm: For five generations, the Pearson family has grown pecans, peaches, and other produce. Located in Fort Valley in middle Georgia, Pearson Farm has over 23,000 pecan trees, some over 100 years old. Pecans are harvested in November, so the new crop is just in. Pearson Farm reserves the delicious Elliot variety for its most select offerings, including Natural Halves, Roasted and Salted, and Cinnamon Glazed. The Elliot is the top of the line.
North Pole Café: Choose from a variety of dining options, including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry's, Nathan's hot dogs, Rising Roll and others. Additional dining options (including adult beverage options) are available in the Grand Atrium.
